Dust mites (Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and Dermatophagoides farinae) are tiny, spider-like creatures that thrive in soft surfaces, such as mattresses, bedding, upholstered furniture, and carpets. These organisms occur naturally and are too small to be seen with the naked eye, but they thrive in warm, humid environments. Dust mites feed on the dead skin cells shed by humans and animals. Their feces and body parts contain potent allergens that can trigger reactions in sensitive individuals. Dust mite allergens can be found on surfaces and in the air throughout your home.

Cat & Dog Allergens

The primary cat allergen (Fel d 1) is a protein found in skin cells, fur sebaceous glands, and urine. And dog allergen (Can f 1) found in saliva and skin cells. It's important to note that pet hair itself is not an allergen, but it can trap other allergens like pollen and mold. Pet allergens are extremely small—about 2.5 microns in size, which is roughly one-tenth the diameter of a human hair. Because of their tiny size, these particles can easily become airborne and be inhaled. They can pass through HVAC filters and air purifiers, spreading throughout your home. Once airborne, pet allergen particles can remain suspended for hours, making them a common trigger for indoor allergies, potentially leading to asthma attacks and other respiratory issues.
